This new home covers 21,000 square feet, on ten rolling, wooded acres in the Midwest. It’s custom-built for a couple who will undoubtedly pass the home to future generations. Not only did The Premier Group provide potential solutions that were unobtrusive and easy to use, there was a focus on the future of the system: What would it look like — and act like — in five, ten, fifteen years, and beyond? And how would it be serviced and upgraded both in the short and long term?
With these considerations in mind, the team began designing a wired and wireless network that could handle present traffic and future upgrades.
Security was paramount. Access management is important for a property of this size, and the larger system features everything from gate control to detectors for the fireplaces to cameras that cover the home’s perimeter. There’s an integrated safe room, too.
The integrator also notes that the lighting and lighting control system is, quote, “enormous.”
By the numbers:
93 assorted downlights, 31 step lights, 25 utility lights, 36 puck lights, and 89 upscale decorative fixtures that alone collectively took almost 750 hours to assemble and install.
Entertainment options are abundant here, too: There’s a dedicated home cinema with an immersive 7.1.4 sound system and a 144-inch screen couple with a Sony 4K projector.
Distributed audio is featured throughout, even in one of the owners’ master closets. Video displays include 22 TVs throughout the home, including dual Seura mirror TVs in the master bath and a custom mirror TV over the fireplace in the great room.
An astronomical clock handles lighting scenes and motorized shades. Other features include climate control, water features in the backyard, and numerous programmed events that include scenes like “Vacation,” “Entertain,” “Movie Time,” and many more.
