This project presented a number of challenges to M.E.G.A. AV Installations, with the room featuring exposed stone walls, a full glass wall, and a client who made a last-minute change to the planned TV and shelving design.
The integrator took these challenges on and created a spacious media room that delivers a 7.2 set-up, featuring Triad speakers, a Denon amp, a Screen Excellence 100″ 16.9 motorised screen, and a Sony 4K projector that was recessed into the back wall.
Due to the stone wall to the left and glass wall to the right, as well as the front wall being used for an art display, the integrator had to place all the speakers and subwoofers in the ceiling, together with a number of various diffuser and absorption panels. M.E.G.A. AV Installations dropped the ceiling around the coffer opening to allow enough space at the sides and the front to position the equipment and panels. To compensate for the lack of behind-the-screen speakers, M.E.G.A. AV Installations installed Triad Bronze in-ceiling speakers, which are angled towards the seating.
The room is controlled via a Control4 remote that triggers a series of macros. With a press of a button, the lights go down 80%, the curtains close, the projector turns on, the screen drops down, and the AV amp turns on. Upon selecting video source, the lights go down 100%.
The judges could tell that this integrator knew what they wanted to achieve from the start and delivered a proper AV job.
