The Technology Meets Design award celebrates the best integration of technology that complements the design scheme for the room or home. The judges looked for projects that show a successful working partnership with the integrator and design and build industry partners.
Those judges were drawn from some of the finest architecture and interior design firms in the business.
From the outset, the client – a developer — was committed to AudioVisions’ grand designs: The firm says, “Our client’s $40M speculative home needed a remarkable integrated system to standout in the marketplace and draw the attention of a potential buyer. He wanted AudioVisions to design an integrated system that would ‘wow’ homebuyers of this stature. From our very first meeting until project completion he repeated the same axiom, ‘Your technology is going to sell this house!’”
The finished product includes video walls in many locations, from a projection system in the garage to a 137-inch custom display above a linear fireplace in the family. There’s an underground lounge with a ProAudio in-ceiling system and a massive display, and an 85-inch TV in the master bedroom that folds up into the couch. The dedicated home cinema is a top-shelf project of its own, custom calibrated by Paul Hales founder of ProAudio.
But what may really set this home apart is the project’s commitment to wellness. As AudioVisions explains, “The water, air and lighting aspect of the home do not require user interaction to maintain a healthy home environment. The Delos Darwin system is linked to the Crestron automation system. Darwin automatically detects air quality changes and and turns on the Mitsubishi HVAC system as necessary and the Ketra lights adjust automatically throughout the day.”
This project also won CEDIA’s Life Lived Best at Home and Integrated Home, Level IV (Americas) Awards for 2020.
