This home — a Finalist honoree in the 2019 CEDIA Awards for Best Integrated Home, Level IV — features an observatory so that the owner can engage in his passion: identifying and watching the celestial objects in the night sky. The lighting in the whole house can be set so it doesn’t interfere with his nighttime hobby, and he can send what he’s seeing to multiple video displays.
There’s much more, here, though — as the Service TECH, Inc. team tells us, quote:
“The client had also requested whole home colored lighting, and we knew we would need to simplify control for changing the rooms. Crestron’s 10-inch touch panels, were the best options to create an intuitive user interface (UI) for controlling each room level and color. In the end, selecting a single room, or the entire home, then a color, would easily set the desired effect.”
The winning firm also tells us about the various “scenes,” pre-programmed lighting scenarios: ““The ‘Day’ scene follows one’s Circadian Rhythm from cool to warm light throughout the house. The house sits high on the hill in the owner’s neighborhood and the exterior lights up to match the color of their favorite winning sports team or holiday. The aforementioned touchscreens are equipped with a full floorplan layout to select scenes and rooms along with the entire color pallet that Ketra offers.”
A project of this complexity and magnitude demands careful planning and exquisite design, which inspired the CEDIA judging panel to describe the system with a single word: “Stunning.”
